On Teeth and Wine
BBQ and Wine Party
It's been a while since I got back here in my blog. Thanks to everyone who left their comments and sent me their messages. Continue to keep in touch! :)
We recently had a BBQ and Wine party the BBQ pit of a friend of mine. You know the perks of living in a condominium with the pool, BBQ pit, gym and all! Anyway... I knew way before that certain foods and drinks can stain our teeth like black tea, coffee and wine. But never did I know that brushing your teeth right after can have adverse effects to your teeth. Yes, you heard it right!
According to an article I stumbled upon in winefolly.com, I quote: "...The acids in the wine can actually effect the enamel on your teeth–one of the reasons it is not recommended to brush immediately after drinking wine. The softened teeth can be eroded by your vigorous hygiene, so you should rinse–and wait a bit–before scrubbing those purple teeth. This is actually true of white wines too, but without the deep color it is a less obvious issue. For this reason, it’s always a good idea to drink some water after a wine sipping marathon to purge the acids from your mouth."
The acid in the wine breaks down the enamel on our teeth, making it soft, and brushing it right away can wear them off. So after the wine session, take a short break and do the brushing later with your Arm & Hammer Spinbrush with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Toothpaste to keep the white smile the safe way!
Enjoy the wine... and the BBQs!
